Looking for suggestions on where to send fuel sender for my 55 Ford Country Sedan wagon. I have seen some bad reviews about Bobs Speedo in Michigan. Anyone have a good referral ??? Thanks

On the King Seeley units, a person can pop the top off and do a good visual for broken wire ends or a cracked carbon resistor. A person can clean the breaker points contacts if they are careful. There isn't a lot else that can be done for them. If it's broken then a person has to look for a good used or NOS unit. There is an outfit that is making a trimmer to use a rheostat type sender but the sender has to fit or be adaptable to the tank bung for it. Some adapters are available but those are mostly for new tanks than the bung doesn't match to original size and screw pattern.
The trimmer units will reset the rheostat to give relative accuracy at full and empty positions by use of trim pots that are adjustable with a very small screw driver. There was a thread about these not long ago on one of the forums but a person may be able to Google fuel interface module or Ohm converter. Speedway and others sell them. I don't now how well they work though. |

The tanks inc sender mentions for 1955 & 1956. That makes we wonder since 1956 was the first year for 12-volt. They don't mention the Ohm range on it either.
The King Seeley indicator gauges work the same as any fuel gauge with the exception of the completely different sender type. Some testing of the system would be advised before buttoning things up. If it doesn't go from empty to full then it will still need a trim module. The main thing is that it fits the tank. |

Here’s an old link that discusses the King Seeley in more detail.
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...eely&showall=1 These guys possibly do repair, but aren’t taking new work. https://calibratedclassics.com/servi...ender-services I believe you’re correct about the wagon having a unique sender. I think the tbird guys still sell replacement gauges, you may be able to use one of those to rebuild yours. Does the wagon have access to the sender thru an inspection plate like the cars and birds do? Last edited by miker98038; 05-29-2026 at 06:57 PM. |

Some wagons have a vertical fuel tank instead of a flat horizontal one. This can affect the type of float arm and mounting it has.

My wagon has a horizontal tank, no straps as it has two brackets at front, one at rear. The guage still works, which is a miracle in itself. Lots of wire under dash appeared to be overheated. New wire harness from Rebel wire solved that. Wish I knew how to post a picture here, not very good at this forum stuff. THANKS for reading and responding. RJ
