1954 ford under dash interior light stays on

I agree. The sockets are hot. Checked wiring and looks good. Pulled apart door buttons and they also look good and work testing on bench. They are intermittent. If I disconnect them the light s will stay on. Reconnect and the lights work for a while then can go back on. Does the door buttons ground when in or out. I looks like they ground when out. Don't understand how a ground is working

When out they complete the circuit. I suspect you have a bad door button switch.
