delivery of a 1946 Ford.

i have never seen a 1945 ford the one in the photo of the gi is a 46

The 46's were brought out in late '45. There were no '45 Fords.

Like all American automakers, Ford Motor Company did not build civilian automobiles during America's involvement in World War II. Instead, the company manufactured military equipment. After civilian auto production resumed, company executive Henry Ford II gifted the first new Ford car -- a 1946 Super Deluxe Tudor -- to U.S. President Harry Truman in September 1945.

Henry Ford II himself drove the first 1946 Ford off the Rouge assembly line on July 3, 1945. Truman was presented a new Ford two months later. Lincoln and Mercury started production on November 1, 1945. All other U.S. carmakers waited for the official green light from the War Production Board, not starting production till early 1946.
Interesting note: The Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg, Germany had been taken over by the Brits, and began production on December 27, 1945.
