I did this for several years while I was putting my coupe together. Still had to change the rings because they stuck on piston. I think everything is splash lubricated from the dippers and it is my opinion that hand cranking does not splash the oil good enough. But that is just my opinion. It is my opinion that if the engine was operating normally before cold weather then it should last till spring. When in doubt, spray some oil in the cylinders with the plugs out.

If in doubt spray fogging oil into each cylinder in the fall, then turn the motor over once a month using that box end offset wrench on the crankshaft pulley nut that you can buy from the parts houses. I did that for a few winters when the car was stored off site, and never had a problem.

The battery was out of the car at home on a workbench with a Battery Tender. Never turn the motor over by using the fan,

FYI I successfully freed stuck rings by adding a 1/2 cup of Marvel oil to each cylinder and letting it set for a few days to soak.
