Jus a fyi on 41 and later gates. the upper roll is not uniform all the way across. It stays the same size verticly and the inside or front edge is straight but it should have a bow outward of maybe a half to three quarters of an inch. I can only assume they did this for strength as the earlier ones were very easy to warp and bend. Tim

The upper roll on my 40 Tonner tail gate also tapers out 1/2” from each side to the middle of the gate. Another possible reason for the taper is that it fits the hand better making it easier to lift the gate from the horizontal position.
