I have a small bottle with an eye dropper in it with a thicker red solution. It came with some boxes of parts I acquired. I always wondered what it is? What is dangerous about the fluid they used in the gauges?

The fluid is, "acetylene tetrabromide" The more precise chemical name is "1,1,2,2-tetrabromoethane". This is from the instruction sheet from the kits being sold. |

...I wonder if one could use red mercurechrome(sp). I guess you would have to know the specific gravity of it and of the original Ford fluid.
