I just went down and looked at a beat-up 1/2 panel I dragged home a few years back. It has a G six and it's mounts also are in the same holes a V8 goes into. This would suggest that the G and H are directly interchangeable with each other and the V8. I wonder what the forward holes are for in so many jailbar frames?

One more thing about the G & H. It looks like they changed the length of the rods, as the compression height on the G is 1.953 and the CH on the H is 2.188. So, the rods and piston are different.

Will an M exhaust manifold interchange with a H exhaust manifold?

From Newc's comment it may be so. Six cyls of many types suffer from cracked exhaust manifolds. They are quite long so the heating and cooling cycles play havoc on them. I have owned a few sixes in my day from a jeep tornado in a Vietnam era M715 to a long string of toyota landcruisers and stove bolt chevs. Toyota finally made theirs in 3 pieces with minature piston rings between the sections. For the rest of them it's all about finding a good one. My H has a good one (for now). Newc might be onto something if the M fits and is a better engineered design. I HATE exhaust manifold leaks. I can mop up an oil leak and park in a shed for rainwater leaks, but manifold leaks always sound like the guy ticking away next to you at the convience store in an '82 volare with one mag wheel. 300 buck is worth it if it fits.
