I'm trying to round up the parts to run an engine on a test stand, this coil was in a bunch of parts I bought from an estate sale. So thought I'd clean it up and see if it is usable. Does it look like an original Model A part? Looks like possibly a Maple Leaf... Canadian maybe? (eh?) I live only 20 minutes from the boarder so I guess it's possible. Primary resistance is 2.5 ohms, secondary is 3.155k ohms... sound about right?

Nice find. That's the first one like that I've seen or heard about. Just be sure the metal can doesn't contact the terminals. but it looks like the bakelite material may stick up above the steel shell.

Yes it is Canadian, and sought after. Read about it in the new RG&JS Rev 4. I would be careful not put it at risk of any damage. It belongs on an accurate restoration.

You do not know if a coil is useable without using a coil tester. The coil MUST be warmed up as most bad coils 'work' when cold and crap out when they warm up.

Buy a new coil for your test stand, less worries when testing an engine:-)

I agree with Vince that this coil is too valuable to be used on a test stand and should be used on a high point restoration.

I wouldn't mind donating it. I'd love to see it on a car that needs it. There is a Canadian club close by, maybe I'll contact them.
