Default Insurance settlement

Hi there....hope someone on here can give me some advice. Transport company lost my trunk lid from my 1936 ford coupe. My car is in excellent condition. Insurers have offered $1000. I'm claiming $3000 to cover cost of locating, buying and shipping to UK. Insurers won't increase their offer. Any advice on how to proceed gratefully received.....Bob in Scotland

They cannot just pull the $1000.00 figure from the sky. Someone has contacted a seller and gotten a quote. Have the insurance company supply the part and pay labor and materials for installation, detrimming and painting the decklid and blending of adjacent panels. Or you could have your insurance handle the claim and then they could go against the carrier's insurance company.

Hi tinman080.....I booked everything through the shippers and I paid extra for insurance. They tried to deny liability until I sent them pics of the trunk lid on the car when their transporter collected it. I told insurance from the outset that I wanted a replacement steel trunk lid and was informed that I would have to put a monetary value on it. I put a sum of $3000 to cover buying and shipping to uk and they are saying that's too much so I have gone back to my original claim. As far as I'm concerned they can find me a suitable replacement.....thanks again. Bob in Scotland
