Default 38 temp gauge

Picked up this cool survivor 38 Deluxe last week and started doing a little work on it to make sure it's roadworthy. P.O. left new coil/generator and dash wiring looms in the trunk so I thought I would replace them. Concern is the capillary tube for the temp gauge is frozen in the head. Any suggestions as to how to get it out? Being soaking it and tapping on it so far. No luck.
