Default Speedometer "lock" question

I have a 1929 speedometer that I had in my old CCPU before I rebuilt the PU into a huckster. When I put it in the huckster after the rebuild it broke the cable. So I replaced it with a rebuilt one.

Now the question is: Due to the fact the old speedometer still has the "lock" (the lead thing with a wire) on it, should I take this lock off and lubricate it or should I leave the lock on and sell it as original and will it have more value with the original lock on it?

Thanks for your ideas.
