Ive spent the last couple weeks assembling my 28 A Roadster body, the cowl and doors are original, the deck lid, quarters and braces are brookville. Spent all yesterday getting the rear rumble braces installed, so I could mount the lid. The triangle pieces and the rear braces had two holes that lined up, and near as I could tell from looking at lots of pics on here, was that those two holes should be riveted together (well the lower one also threw the sub frame), problem is, I did that, and today I went to install the lid, but the pivot point for the hinge is about an inch forward of where the mount point is on the brace, both sides. There is no way to get them lined up with he deck lid closed, the rear of the lid would have to be outside the body, and the front way down inside.
I did manage to put them together, with the lid about 3/4 open, but then you could neither open it the last quarter, or close it past about a half shut. I then lined up the lid the best i could, and marked on the brace where the two mounting holes for the other part of the brace would be. And this is where it got really strange, if i clamped the bracket on there, I could then place the other little "L" brace on it, to the bottom of the rain butter perfectly, instead of have to shorten it to fit. Does anyone have any ideas what I have done wrong, since the braces all seem to only install one way in one spot, how is the mount for the rumble hinge so far off? You can see in the pic the two circles where I think the holes should go. Any thoughts? Suggestions? HELP???? lol Thanks guys! |
