Heard a song the other day called "Something Else". Had heard it before but never listened to the lyrics. Very clever song makes a reference to the guy trying to get the girl but couldn't because he didn't have a car. Saved his "dough " in the end, got a "41 Ford not a 59" ( because that's all he could afford) and finally got the girl. I had to google to find out who did this great piece of music then I read about the guy that sung and wrote it.... the late Eddie Cochran (who I had heard of but had not taken much notice of and I recognized some of his other songs too). Great song. it's a shame Cochran didn't live to reach his full potential. Now this is probably "old hat" to a lot of the older Barners, but although I was a child of the late fifties, I only became "musically aware" around the era of "acid rock" and flower power. Keith Richards, Sid Vicious ( S*x Pistols) and Motorhead among others have all covered Cochrans song so great songs endure across the generations.
What other songs from days gone by are there out there that make reference to cars especially old Fords? Can we list them and the artists? GB
