Default steering off centre?

Have stock ajustable gemmer steering box in one vehicle , rebuilt F100 in the other, On ajusting free play in the steering box fined that only with wheels at 11 oclock can i zero the clearance hence driving in straight line there is an an amount of free play, which makes steering tricky due to excessive free play. Both boxess have the new short drop arm, In order to correct all one would need an ajustable drag link, ??
Could the relation of new ball too square be out? Anyone else had this problem & is there a cure, Yet too check if original length drop arm will correct this, Your views appreciated, Derek from a wet NZ
