Default Disassembling speedometer gear "turtle"

This is for those who are trying to figure out (as I was) how to disassemble and rebuild the speedometer driven gear that mounts on the torque tube, otherwise known as the "turtle."

I kept reading about removing the end cap and some said to put a small hole in it, to which a screw could be threaded and used as a pulling point. Looking at mine, I saw there was already a small hole so I put a screw in and removed the end cap,
(see pic 1 below). This doesn't help because the shaft won't come out this way.

Then the Lord told me to try the other end. I thought I was breaking it at first, but it was actually coming out. Gently pry around this with a screw driver and the end comes off, (see pic 2 and 3 below).
Now the shaft can come out and the gear removed and replaced.
