Default '34 Temp sender install question

Barners
I will be installing an accessory temp. gauge sender in the upper radiator hose, on my '34. Has any of you done this, successfully?? I purchased newly made parts for this, but I'm not sure of the process. The photo in the '33/'34 V8 resto book seems to have some sort of seal on the outside of the hose, under the "U" shaped outer clamp. Do any of you provide this service??
Thanks.
