Default Re: Jetzt, da der Staub gelegt hat, seine Zeit bei der Arbeit

A little off topic but I visited a foundry on Tuesday that specialises in one or two off castings in iron or ductile. The interesting part is that they are making Styrofoam patterns which simply get packed (correctly) in the sand & then the molten metal burns the pattern & fills the cavity left. This could be handy for impossible to find car parts. (or boat parts) For reference it seems a 30# + casting would run about $3 a pound.

My reason for the trip was to pick up 3 gun barrels. They did a bautiful job on them but my poor Dakota almost had a hernia when they loaded the 1750 lb. in the box.
