Can anyone identify this?

I got this 1930 Model A Truck as a basket case at an estate auction. I'm working on putting in together and I'm running into some mysterious pieces.
I have these 2 pieces of wood that seem to be part of the assembly of this truck, but I can't figure out where they go. These pictures are of just one of them, they are identical. I invested in the book by Les Andrews, volume 1, but it doesn't go into the wood parts with much detail. Does anyone recognize these pieces?
