Default First drive, a few issues!

After 18 months of work and probably 400-500 hours, we are on the road! I’ve actually taken a couple of drives and after working out a few other issues I still have a few I have questions on. Y’all know I’m not afraid to ask so here goes!

1. My temp guage clearly is not accurate. I’m running an analog guage that shows 185-90 whereas the stock dash guage goes all the ay past hot once the car is up to about 130 degrees. I’d like this guage to be accurate! I converted to 12 volt. Would you suspect the guage or the senders? How do I test each?

2. Going into 3rd it grinds. All other gears shift fine. The transmission is a stock unit that I bought used. Insides looked amazing. Could this be as simple as a shifter adjustment? If it is the shift rod adjustments, wouldn’t I have issues with another gears as each rod controls two gears?

Thanks y’all. You all have been a HUGE help over the last 18 months and I greatly appreciate it!
