I once had a similar issue. I purchased an everyday telescoping car antenna the mounts to a flat surface. I drilled the needed hole in the first (front) bracket and mounted the antenna there. The next bracket I drilled a hole there and installed a round rubber insulator for the antenna. Then drilled a hole in the body in front of the rear attachment of the front fender to access the interior. Ford offered an under the right running board in addition to the chicken wire in the roof.
