We too didn't particularly want to use a "FLEX-FAN" initially, but the dimensions we had to work with pretty-much pre-determined that probability in our case. So, we did a lot of research. We too ended-up using a "DERALE" brand fan. Derale has been building fans and other cooling products for eons for the OEM market as well as for the aftermarket, right here in the good ol' USA. We convinced ourselves that there is nothing to worry about with these Derale Fans. And the darned thing moves some air! Ours is a 16" diameter fan.
