Default 30 Tudor Windlace question.

I just read a reply to a 29 windlace question but my 30 is different. Is it true that the front piece is attached to the door where the metal slot piece is and the top and rear of the windlace is attached to the body? If so, it must be a nightmare to get it to meet when you close the door. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks, Jack
