8BA Flathead Rebuild Oh So happy!

Got the call yesterday the motor is done,so it went to machine shop to check out today.. Tried to keep it a secret but pulled motor an trans around Christmas, opened up the motor the top end was shot no compression in a couple of cylinders. I did everything i could not to rip all that out . But glad i did, took the engine to a local guy that has 40 yrs. experience building flatheads. He stripped it to find a few things wrong some one was in there before, it had .030 over pistons in it, the valve keepers were wrong, the springs were shot. Cam and crank and pistons were good.Cylinders just needed a hone. Got all new rering kit polished the crank used stock cam and oil pump all were good but the big excitement is the valve train.. My cousin who is another flathead guru just happened to have a set of Johnson NOS hallow adjustable lifters and all new valves and springs and so on.. Was giddy when i seen them! lol Had the heads shaved .020 Got all correct gaskets, Looking for some good engine paint. Then to top off, opened up 3 speed and trans and 2nd gear was shot took to a trans builder today that works on vintage trans as well so it was a good day to lose power at work. lol Ken
