Default Acetone in gas

I just saw something on the I-net I haven't seen before. I know, The myth busters did a show on it eight years an I missed it, or something! Acetone in gas! Using the rate of two ozs per ten gals they supposedly raised gas mileage from mid 20s to thirty MPG. But it only works for the first day, after the first day, it is longer effective. Is this of any real benefit? This sounds like one of those obscure "Fixes" that have been around for a long time, but I somehow missed it.
