Inline filters from mechanical pump...part numbers and placement?

Currently, I have a Fram clear plastic on there, put on before me and gettin' old and boy, is that thing fussy on where it's placed. Never more than 2/3rds full and if I change it's position it starves.

Whoever installed this cut the steel line and patched in the Fram as you would expect with hose and corbin clamps. Original glass fuel bowl filter is empty...I want to do this right. Do I go back to replacing original element in Ford fuel pump...or? Thoughts? Thank you!
