Default Scraping squeak when shifting

Just toook my 36 cabriolet for a ride. Noticed a scraping squeaking noise when shifting. I determined it was not coming from the gear box. In neutral, when I move the shift lever from side, I get the noise. Seems like it is coming from the ball at the base of the shift rod which is surrounded by a chrome collar. I don't see any obvious way to lubricate this area. Does the chrome collar lift up or should I just try to drip some oil down there.

Thanks for any help.
