Default Re: 33 Repo Horns

Hi there, The original Sparton Ford horns 1933-1935 have two wires coming out from each horn. One wire goes to a power supply at the starter switch and the other wire goes to the centre contact inside the headlight switch where it is grounded by the horn button on the steering wheel and no relay is required. The reproduction horns have only one wire to operate them which has to be power and therefore a relay is required to switch that power on and off using the grounding circuit of the horn button. The repros should not use any more or less current (amps) than the originals. The original sparton horns were paired with a high and low tone fitted to deluxe cars. Keith you have looked at this issue before and I cant see why you don't repair your original sparton horns because they are by far the best option. The original sparton horns only came in a 6 volt version whereas the repro horns come in both 6 or 12 volt. PM me if you like Keith. Regards, Kevin.
