I am the most recent caretaker of a '40 coupe, which the prior caretakers did a pretty good job on. It was bought in 1940 from PA Ford dealer. The owner was drafted, put it up on blocks and never came back from Europe. In another family for many years.
I need to tap the Fordbarn brain trust. with several questions about the driver's side wood floor board. 1. What attached the gas pedal hinge to the floorboard. Was it a threaded fastener into a t-nut ? 2. What goes in the relief in the back of the floor board where the pedal rod goes through to seal it ? 3. What seals the sheet metal plate around the steering column, and what type, size and thread scree held it on ? 4. What was used to seal between the wood and metal floorboards, was it a welting ? Are any of the repop pieces any good, or should I make do with what I can make up ? Thank you Fordbarners. |
