Default Engine Leak

Well we did it! My grandpa and I purchased our fourth Model A despite our lack of resources. We spent the entire day yesterday dragging this car out of a very small one car garage. Once we got it home we couldn't get it to run with it's current carburetor (it was leaking where the upper half and lower half attach) so we swapped it out with a carburetor we knew was good and continued to try different things in order to start it. In the midst of the process we blew up the old battery (oops). But we eventually got it started to find a massive oil leak in the rear of the motor. What could be causing this leak?
