Default Flywheel troubles

I have a lightened flywheel that I took to a local machine shop to be balanced. They called this morning to report that there are cracks around the center of the wheel. This is not my area of expertise so I thought I should ask here.
How common are cracks around the center (around the bolt holes) and do they represent a reason to discard the unit?
I would like to add a photo of the magnaflux results but I can't get my 2MB jpg photo to upload.
Should I go in search of a new cut down flywheel for my insert engine or proceed with this one?
Anyone know of somebody that deals in lightened flywheels?
