Guys think chrome is hard but it is not. Just ask me. I found out the hard way having rested a chrome bumper on gravel while I was working on it. I don't recall what I was doing to it but I do remember the marks the gravel made in the chrome.
This was some 20 years ago so the grey matter is a bit tarnished. When I had the 57 bird with wire wheels I used a product called British Wire Wheel cleaner. Spray it on & was it off then dry with a hairdrier or just air & a soft cloth. I think it contained phosforic acid but don't remember the % of it in the cleaner. It did work great.
