Default HoodSprung

Don't know if this is a common problem. The curved section of my driver side upper hood section does not follow the contour of the cowl at the sharpest bend. It does follow the contour of the grill shell, though. It hangs out from the cowl just over an inch. I was thinking of closing the curved part of the hood on a section of 3" PVC pipe padded with towels braced on the grill shell and the cowl. Then applying pressure with more towel padding on the outside of the hood, gently try to rebend the hood in a tighter curve to match the cowl. The 10 year old paint is very good and I'm concerned about cracking it. Am I inviting disaster and should live with the sloppy hood? Anyone else tackle this w/o paint damage? Thanks!
