I assume you mean the one as shown in my avatar,I have done this recently. I have had several of these NOS and plating is always poor or not meant to last even though not installed. The lock cover has to be removed to replate separately,it is mounted on spring loaded shaft to a knurled round piece about 1/2" diameter, you can try wiggling the lock cover around applying carefull upward pressure to pry off. The ones I have removed do not take much to pull out.You will have to make sure you tell the chrome plater guy to mask or somehow prevent plating from building up on knurled part or you will have a couple thousandths more press that will prevent you from tapping it back in place at reassembly. Next remove the pin that is on steel shaft, pin is about 3/32" diameter, you can pull it out or pry it out with pliers ,vise grips or needlenose, dykes or whatever, try not to damage and save it where it won't get lost.Protect threaded bottom of shaft and tap this against something firm but soft, this entire part will come out of top of handle. The slotted spring loaded shaft and bushing perpindicular to shaft you are tapping on can be pushed out of inside, all this part of the handle does is apply spring pressure to keep handle oriented when locked. When handle is properly locked it turns 360 degrees and the slotted part keeps it in a position that is not to the right or left, when unlocked the handle opens like a normal unlocking handle. With the special base for the locking handle you should have three pieces to send to a chrome plater, the base is very rare and must be more fragile than original or standard hood handle base as I have seen several that were cracked and they were NOS. I was very nervoust that plater would loose, drop or somehow ruin base but everything came out beautifull. I have used Custom Chrome in Grafton Ohio and never anyone else for over thirty years, never a dissappointment but never cheap. Again you will be dealing with getting three items replated, hope this helps.
