Can the original popout switch be rebuilt..repaired? If not is there a reliable replace part or parts? I check my electrical system and have 6 volts everywhere except at the points arm when the key is on.

Hi Tom,
Mr. Crabtree can do a good job of restoration -- he did my original pop-out switch a few weeks ago -- very well pleased. |

Some things to check before condemming the popout---
If the points are closed you won't have 6V, or if there is a problem with the insulation with the lower to upper plate wire, and sometimes if the popout end is screwed too tight into the dist housing it pushes the lower plate contact against the dist housing shorting it to ground |

I had Dick Crabtree rebuild a pop out switch for me. Very satisfied, quick turnaround, good communications, reasonably priced, and a professional job. John |

No question, Dick Crabtree is the expert and a fair honest one at that.

Thanks for the info. I've been working 13 hour days and have not been able to get out to the car again until today.
What am I looking at? I checked for a short between ground and the points, and no continuity. I put the positive on the battery and turned the key on opened the points ...no spark...put cardboard between the points and no 6 volts, and checking at the coil the way it is on the firewall, the right side shows 6volts and the left is showing 1 volt. What am I missing? Thanks in advance...I'm real tired.
