Default 19" wheel with odd hubcap

I have this wheel with an odd hubcap. It looks like it was made to order originally for a trailer or independent body builder. I don't think it was just stuck on a jalopy, what would be the point? It reads,"SS Co". Has anybody seen one or something like it?

I have never seen anything like it, nor one held on like that....... I hope we find out more, if it is something rare and not just a fabricated one off item.....

Most likely somebody was using Ford parts to build other equipment, ie. compressor, sprayer, welder & Etc. Look in the back of most any Popular Mechanics magazine from the thirties to see these units.
