Default Bolt-together gas stations????

Has anyone ever seen a "bolt-together" gas station?

I know of one on an old highway route just sitting in some weeds. Looks to have been in a fire but could be restorable IF taken down and brought back and IF it is what I think it is!

I have seen pictures of them on Oldgas.com. They are a neat project if you have a place to put one.

There used to be a Cast Iron gas station sitting beside the road not far from me. It dissapeared a few years ago. I hope it found a good home.

Vern Walker of "Walker Radiator" fame has one in his back yard.. There was an article in an older 'Rod and Custom' or 'American Rodder'.. It was stored in 2 semi trailers for years.. Is Mr Walker still with us??

The American Gas Station book I have shows a couple of them, used by Shell and I'm sure others. "For entrepreneurs on a budget, prefiabricated units...made entirely of metal components, they were easily bolted together at the building site. For the economical price of $2,200, one could purchase a future gas station on Monday, have it delivered that afternoon and be ready for the first customer to drive throught the ionic columns to get gas on Thursday". I'm not sure I believe that.

There used to be one on what is now I-215 just south of Riverside. It was on the south side of the road, looked to be cast iron frames with glass & probably porcelain steel panels, kinda like a greenhouse. I kept intending to pull over and take photos of it. One day, it was gone, flattened, only a concrete slab remaining. Now it's buried under an asphalt batch plant.

Go Steve, rescue the thing before it is gone. Your 3 A's, beer can & Lionel collection need a place of their own. Send photos.

There are (2) of these homes in my parents town in Kansas. They are still being lived in.
