Will the 1949-51 Mercury standard shift flywheel, pressure plate and 10 inch clutch plate bolt to the back of the 1949-53 Ford 8BA crankshaft without any modification to either? Thanks, JIM

Yes. The flywheels are the same except for the pressure plate bolt patterns.

I think that an 8BA crank that came with the auto trans may need to be machined to accept other transmission, otherwise yes...

I think it's the other way around on the auto trans cranks. They standard ones have to be modified to work with the Ford-O-Matic or Merc-O-Matic. The pilot bearings fit in the flywheels on the 8BA family of engines.
This is a good set up to bolt up a Merc or pickup half bell when using the engine with an older Ford 3-speed transmission with the 1 3/8" 10-spline input shaft. |
