I've checked the new judging standards and can't find the answer -- I'm sure it's there, I just don't know where to look. Under area 2 Electrical System it says it does not include lamps or horn. I go to horn (Area 19) and it says it does not include conduit. If I go to Area 18 Lamps I can't find any mention of conduit either.
Currently my 1929 Phaeton does not have the wires running through conduit for the headlights and horn. I've looked at several catalogs and they all list both stainless steel and chrome conduit for the 1929's. Which is more accurate? Thanks in advance, Robert |

Its actually in exterior plating. Page 15-2 Begining through 29 they were bright nickel plated. Conduits in 30-31 were stainless. Begining in march of 29 they were chrome plated only on the town car.

Thanks 31 Tudor! I haven't called Berts yet to see if they would have nickel plated conduit in their piles of "recycled" parts. But if I can't find nickel-plated which would you recommend I use, Chrome or Stainless? It's just a driver, I don't plan to ever do more than just enjoy the ride. Thanks again!

There are many variables. For example it appears that you may have chrome (instead of nickel) plating on your shell and headlamps. If so there is no need to go with non-matching nickel even though it's correct.
Bert's is a good place to call as they know the variables and can advise you better than most.

You've got a good point Marco. I guess I need to decide what exactly I want to do with the car. I'm not interested in having it judged, but I would like it to be as correct as it can be. My intention was to gradually replace parts with more accurate ones as time goes on and I have the money, or as they wear-out.
The car looks good at a distance, but there are a lot of things on it that are incorrect. It wasn't an accurate "restoration" (to use the term very loosely). To give you an idea, the car had a chromed horn when I got it. For Christmas I received a refurbished Stuart-Warner horn so now I can get rid of the chrome import junk. |
