Need help to identify -34 Pitman arm or arms if there is more than one of them, preferably with pictures and dimensions, and the difference between 1932 and 1933-34 so I can sort them out
Is there anyone who would like to help me with this! Thank you in advance, Jorgen |

32's ball and arm separate.33-34's ball and arm are forged as a unit.Look for a part number.33-34's start with a 40- and 32's start with a B-.Hope this helps.

There is an early '33 version where the arm and ball stud are separate parts, but these have a promonant raised '40' prefix part number forged into the side of the arm to help distinguish them from the very similar-looking '32 arm.

One more thing to add to DL's post, above.... The part numbers are a good indicator, and there is one more -- 46-. The 46- is for pickups/commercials, and looks the same as a 40-, but has slightly different 'clocking' to compensate for the different steering column angle on pickups. There might also be a BB- for big trucks - don't know about that. And, there is also a possibility of NO part number on the arm. I happen to have one of these, and in that case I believe you are sol for identification. All I can say is that the one I have is surely a 40- arm, as it fits & functions correctly on my 34 (passenger).
To be a little more 'inclusive', there is also a RHD pitman arm. I have one, and it does not have a part number on it ( and I don't know the part number prefix). If you put all of these arms side-by-side ( the 40- , 46- , & RHD ) they would all look the same to the casual observer. You would have to study them carefully to see the 'clocking' difference, and the slightly different 'ball-angle' on the RHD. Hope this helps. |

1932 pitman arm part number is B-3590-A for passenger and commercial. 1933-34 pitman arm part number for passenger is 40 3590 and 46 3590 for commercial. The part numbers should be stamped on the pitman arm.

To clear up info from an above post, the pitman arm for 32 passenger is B 3590A and the arm for commercial (pickups) is B 3590B which has different clocking. The A version is stamped A, and the B version does not carry a letter stamp.

In my experience, the 1932 'B' suffix arm is also stamped with that letter.
