1931 Pickup, I just need a sanity check on my horn. If I hook up a test light to the two horn wires (disconnected from the horn), I get a completed circuit. This is only supposed to be a completed circuit when the horn button is pressed correct? The horn button goes up and down so not jammed. the only thing I replaced is the switch body. I guess the next step is to separate the switch body to see if the wire is grounded in the harness somewhere?

Start by removing the light switch assembly. The horn is "hot" all the time and the circuit is completed by grounding the low side at the horn button. The circuit path takes it from the horn to the light switch wafer and the "button" on the end of the horn rod makes contact with the light switch wafer terminal with a spring right in the center of the wafer. That spring can sometimes get cocked and make contact with something it should be insulated from. Simple fix if that is the case.

time to get out the dremel. Still waiting on a headlight bulb socket or else I would strip out to harness and put the new one in. total debacle. I had to get it to a local show so I hard wired the headlight on one side then decided to get a new harness.

Looks like you probably found the problem. Good work!

Nope, its a fail. That wonky end on the harness works its way to the edge and grounds on the switch body when I drive it. The harness is sketchy anyway so time to replace it.

When you get your new harness, make sure the center horn contact move smoothly when pressed with your thumb. Some are not cleaned and loaded with solder flux. Clean with acetone. When done should have a smooth movement.
