After considering a number of options and trying (and failing) to build my own, I bought a "Plug-n-Chug" cupholder from Classic Consoles. Their website (classicconsoles.com) does not list anything specifically for Fairlane but after working with Randy over the last few weeks we determined that the unit they sell for 56 Ford F-100 would probably work. I made the order and it arrived yesterday. It works. It slides into the ashtray slot and holds two drinks, or in my case a drink and a cell phone bracket. It also has a soft pouch which they tell me is to hold a cell phone, but that's where I keep my clip-on sunglasses. Available in a variety of colors.

Looks great. Trying to figure if this would fit my 54 ford customline (car) ash tray. Can you tell us the length, width and thickness of the tongue that slides into the ash tray tracks. Thanks.

P.S. My ash tray slides are on about a 20 degree downward angle. Is the tongue on this thing fixed to the cup holders or can it rotate downward.

It doesn't rotate and slides in level. I can get dimensions later today. I'm sitting in Dr waiting room right now.

First pic shows the cross section shape of the plug. Pic 2 shows 3.25" width on the inner part Pic 3 shows 4" width on the outer part Pic 4 shows 5.75" length If you contact them, they might be able to customize it by cutting the edge on an angle to compensate for the 20 degree off-level. Go to the website and send them an email. That's what I did. Randy responded with answers to my questions. |
