I have ordered the "Green Book" because it seems like it has a lot of information. It has not arrived yet

In terms of correct set up of the braking system, do the two pictures look correct in terms of placement?

I cant really tell from picture in #9.

That little clip is to make it so the spring can not go up inside the tube, However! as pointed out earlier in this thread, the new springs are sometimes too long and bunch up not allowing full travel when the brake is applied. In that case, let the excess spring go up into the tube, and stick the clip into the spring at the end of the tube.

On the inside end of the tube. This basically shortens the effective length of the spring.

Thanks for the help.
My spring is 6" long.
This picture show 4 3/4" of spring.
How much should be exposed? It feels like it will work fine at this location,

Ben, your spring is fine. It's not a watch :-) and only there to return the rear shoe position.

No clip in the picture. Mine broke.
I took the advice of 19forty from post 19 and got some banding from one of my jobs and made it.
Its on now.
