Default Model A Pickup Bed Info Needed

While doing some research I have found a pickup bed with waffle stamped rivets in an unusual location on the bed. I haven't seen any other beds with waffled rivets in this location. These do look like they were done at the assembly plant.
If you guys with pickup beds can take a look at your beds, please let us know if you see another one like this. Old rusty beds out behind the barn qualify for inspection too.
Here are a couple of photos.
Thanks!

No waffles on mine.

The truck was a "local assembly" done in Somerville, MA Ford Plant and probably done with whole sub-assemblies from Ford.

Dan,
I don't remember any waffled rivets in the bed i restored a few years ago. I replaced a number of rivets in the bed, but as I remembered, they were ALL rounded on the peened end.

Found four waffle rivets on my ccpu bed. Different location than yours...one in each corner where the channel braces are.

This in practice rarely happened ...contrary to opinions by some. If you actually study the Forean's logs and the Engineering dept notes, you will find that avery fastener, cotter pin, piece of wire, etc. all had a specific part number. Even if two fasteners were identical in design yet had different finishes, Ford's Engineers assigned a separate part number.

One other topic worth mentioning. MARC/MAFCA Judges are suppose to use the Restoration Guideline & Judging Standards to adjudicate a vehicle in competition. Because pick-up beds have been found assembled with bucked round and waffled tooling, the knowledgeable Judges would likely not give any type of deduction.

The rivet heads on my 28 open cab pickup on the bed are all round head.

Thank you guys for the input and the photos.
I believe that, as Brent says, these visable waffled rivets on the pickup bed are an assembly line anomaly. It's still interesting to see where they show up, and I encourage anyone else to post photos if they run across any on their pickup bed.
