Hi Fellas
I'm trying to find a progressive linkage for my 59A engine. Isky 2-2 barrel intake, dual 97'S Max1 cam.Carb spacing is 5 1/8 inches Currently running straight linkage and would like to try a progressive set up. Stromberg shows SBC9248pro at Summit and Speedway both are back ordered and future shipping dates keep moving. Sent a message to Max at Stromberg in Salt Lake several days ago and no reply. Does anybody have a suggestion for an alternative? Also any thoughts on progressive set up are appreciated Pete Rose |

I would not use a progressive linkage on a 2x2 setup as the result will cause a very mismatched fuel distribution between the two ends of the manifold.

Yeah, Probably the only way you could successfully run a progressive linkage with two, twos, is if they're bolted onto one of those Y adapters...

Two carbs on a flathead supply the same amount of fuel to all the cylinders at the same time, mores than a single carb in the center!
By making one carb (that doesn't feed all 8 cylinders at one time). the primary carb with progressive linkage keeping the other carb closed till called on, you are supplying uneven fuel delivery for most of your driving. Balance your two carbs so that all cylinders get the same fuel delivery all of the time! Use a progressive linkage for 3 carbs as it was intended |

Both my cars with 2 carbs (one has 97s,one has 81s) have straight linkage no progressive and they work wonderfully. My Ardun car has 4 Webers and they all work together also.

Man, am I glad that I read this! I'm planning to add another 94 to my '53 flattie, using a dual carb Weiand manifold that I have. I might have considered a progressive linkage, but now I won't. Thanks all, for saving me some headaches!
