That looks like a beauty, Steve but I've got a 12 volt generator on the '32. Sorry I missed you at Luray, it was certainly a good meet.

I drove my 37 pickup out of the shop with all the fenders, running boards and lights working and attached for the first time in 20 years.

Went for a ride to test out the new transmission. (worked well) Just got far enough away, where it was too far to walk back, and the 40 died, Good fuel and battery no spark at the plugs.
Adventures in car hobby. Came home on the Rollback. AAA to the rescue. |

Today started yesterday when I started pulling valve assemblies out of the '38 V8-60. I borrowed the long 'pickle fork' tool from my machine shop. It kept slipping and missing the grooves. I finally managed to get one of the exhaust valves out. That's when I discovered the fork opening is too big for the little 60. So I modified a flat prybar I had to have an opening that fit the removed guide. Pics below. I got the rest of the exhaust valves out pretty easily since they all moved when the spring was pulled down.
None of the intakes would move (I'm curious if there is a well known explanation.) I left them over night to soak in as much PBB as I could get to them. Today they were still stuck hard. I broke part of one of the guide grooves and realized I need a new approach. I used the clamping valve remover to lift the spring and remove the bottom stem key. Then I used a 1-1/2 inch section of 1/2 inch PVC with a lengthwise slot that fit under the valve head and rested on the guide. A couple of whacks with a dead-blow hammer and the horseshoe key was free to remove by hand. The clamp went back into service and finished pushing the guide out. This worked amazingly well.

Installed front seat belts in the '41 Merc. Nice product from Seat Belts plus. My only gripe is them using FedEx. Delivered to wrong address again! Put me a day behind.

Not as exciting as most but did my first post here and spent a few hours searching parts (aka dreaming) for the 8BA in my '46 Super Deluxe.

That's why we started this discussion - to have a place where people could post little things thay may not seem worthy of a standalone discussion. Welcome aboard!

Well, I saved my '41 Merc from a 4' Black snake intrusion. Was headed for the car. This spring I had one thread its way into the undercarriage of my side by side. I did not want for the same to happen to the Merc. Went to lunch, came back and found another, a bit smaller. My bride of nearly 62 years helped me remove both to the woods. What a partner! By the way, she loves the Merc.

my new-to-me '41 Ford Super Deluxe convertible (lachaven green) was hauled from the consigner to my storage unit today. very pleased with everything, now that i've had a good chance to take a close look at it.
such simplicity and what quality! they were built like a WWII Soviet T-34 tank! i have recently sold after owning them for four or five years, a 2007 Porsche and Aston Vantage and still own two vintage British cars: a '53 MG and '67 Jaguar Mk2, but this older ford puts them to shame as far as construction and materials quality. i'm amazed. from now on i might be an American made kind of guy, at least as far a vintage automobiles are concerned. |

Replaced the leaking heater core in my 1950 Ford convertible with a new one from Brassworks. Went a lot quicker than I expected.
