Default organizing research information

in an attempt to actually find the things which i have saved for reference,

i was hoping for some guidance.

Q: are brakes considered

a. - drivetrain components

b. front (& rear) end components

c. suspension components

there will be more Qs as i get a more sophisticated system, but for now i'm

happy with the "animal, mineral, vegetable" options.

thanks

Ford considered brakes to be their own category in their parts catalogs and repair manuals.

Hi,

Do you plan to share the results as a pdf document?

wow; now That's some impressive organization!

i think it's way beyond the scope of knowledge & energy i can muster, but it certainly is aspirational.

Glenn: Thanks so much for organizing and preserving those great technical resources. Too bad there isn't a Burt Lancaster and V8 Coopman portfolio.
They both were exceptional in their knowledge and the sharing of their knowledge.

You might want to consider using Ford's standard part number system shown in the front of the Green Bible and elsewhere.

Yes, many of Burt's articles are included in Rumble Seat's files and some in the Techno too.

I've thought about all the photos and good writeups too. I may be able to get them off the Barn for consolidation but sure wish I had his treasure trove of pictures, yours's too!

I believe I would be remiss if I did not point out that one the knowledgeable gentleman being referred to in this thread was named Bruce Lancaster, sometime known as "The Librarian". Burt was a fine actor in his own right, but he couldn't hold a candle to Bruce when it came to old Fords.

My dad collected Ford literature staring in the 1950s when he was restoring Model A's and then Flatheads. It fills up an entire room. I think he was more into collecting the literature than he was the actual cars.

This is precisely what I had done when researching for "It's Ford for '40".
Made my life easier...

I use the Ford part numbering system to catalog the information I collect. I put pictures, articles, descriptions, drawings and anything related to a part in a folder with the basic part number. When there are multiple versions of a base part number, I use sub-folders for versions of each part. It was a bit of a tedious process to get started but now all new information has a logical home or else a new folder gets created.
