What I don't understand is, why did Holley, and to a lesser extent Zenith, spend so much time faffing around with these cosmetic design changes? It must have cost money to make new masters for the molds. A few internal design changes were pointed out, but most of the iterations shown appear to be internally identical.

The changes in the side vent also don't make sense – isn't that something they could have tested internally to determine what size was optimal?

Paul, aren’t you glad everyone said yes? I would hate to have that video wind up on the proverbial “cutting room floor”.

Great vid Paul and Steve. This is the sort of information I like to learn about. I'll never have that many carbys, but all the minor differences was very interesting. Now I just have to go through my collection and sort what I have.

These days, I never know what will hit and what will get me a bunch of hate from the web forums. So, this one is worth publishing?

Paul - You are going to have haters regardless of what you do. Using the Barn as a test audience is good, but in the end it’s what YOU think is valuable and entertaining. And you’ve got a pretty damn good track record. Keep up the good work, we love them.

This was great! Of course I have never watched a Paul Shinn video that I didn't find interesting, informative, and entertaining.

Hi Paul,

i have the A-7112-S front transmissions seal kit and A-7111-S transmission seal kit here but have not had time and energy to put them in. What about a video on putting those in?

Tom
Just so happens, I still have footage of Steve Mitchell talking about those. Was waiting til we do the transmission in Tina's roadster to include them. Tina's roadster keeps getting shoved to the back burner, but she kinda wants it done so she can drive the wheels off of it.

For the record, that video didn't do so well compared to others. The Fordbarn audience is obviously much different from the global audience. But that sorta makes sense because my core-target audience is someone who either does not yet own a Model A or just got one.

Rather than concentrate on authenticity, I prefer to have a video that describes in detail the function analyses, trouble symptoms, and repair / restoration techniques for the various Zenith carburetors. In my opinion, a video should also identify & debunk beliefs & practices that are totally false folklore about carburetors.
