Default Forum problem

Sometimes when answering a post I get the message that says I am not logged in, but I am. Then when I log in it will allow me to send my reply. However, this does not work sometimes and I lose all I have typed. This evening I typed a lengthy response within my own thread and it disappeared twice. My internet leaves a lot to be desired, but it does not seem it would be the internet. Anyone else have this problem?

If you click the " stay logged in" , I've only had that trouble with years in between episodes. Do you change browsers?

I have had that problem more than a few times ( not just on this site). It makes no difference if I check stay logged in. I worked out that it’s when I move around the building and the Wi-Fi on my phone changed to another node I get logged out. So what I do when that happens when I hit reply I hit the back button copy my reply log back in paste the reply and then hit reply.

Best bet is to always SAVE you text before leaving a forum page. then if you loose it, it normally will be on clipboard (computer) or fone via COPY. it only takes a couple of wiped out text efforts to see the value of this procedure.

After losing extensive messages a couple of times, that's what I do now too.

I find if I am replying to a post, and take too long doing research in my photo archive, the site has logged me out when I return to continue adding information. So, as suggested above, I do a "copy" before I go to one of my files, that way when I come back and I've been logged out, I log in, paste what I had done and continue.

I find it good insurance when you are typing a long response...highlight all that you have typed every so often and right click your mouse/pad and "copy" what you have typed....that way IF it disappears you can right click on the new page and "paste" it back. Once you do, then "copy" again!!!

That's prolly because you were on a page that was loaded from your storage drive that was saved or cached at an earlier time when you actually were logged in. If you refresh the page with the browser refresh button, it should refresh the page directly from the internet server which should tell you if you're still logged in or not.

If I was going to do a long (winded!) lol, message... I would definitely write it in another location such as Compose for Gmail. It automatically will save the text in text box as a Draft. you have to consciously delete it. Ctrl C gets selected text SAVED to clipboard. Then for computer once SAVED, a Ctrl V will post it into text box on fordbarn message board. if on a fone app, then usually the PASTE function drops it in wherever the cursor is. same with computer.

For me, the irony is that I worked extensively on industrial computers, but that was a long time ago. I never did get anywhere near that level of proficiency with internet computers!
Nowadays I would rather be turning nuts and bolts...
