Best source of information on this would be the Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards. My copy seems to have disappeared so I'm sorry I can't answer your questions.

Early slant window cars did not have door pockets and had a pocket on the kick panel. Early slant window cars also only had one drivers visor. This is outlined in the judging standards.

I have looked at this car online as well, hard to tell for sure from those pictures. I have an original car and this one if original is a bit nicer. It doesnt state if it has been repainted but that stripe is an incorrect color. A closer look at the construction and materials of the interior would tell you if its original or not.

Also, there’s differences in standard sedan and town sedan interiors.

I have a 31 SW Town Sedan and when I pulled what appeared to be the original upholstery out, there was a pocket in each door.

Most Fordor Slant Windows didn't have door pockets, but there are some that did. The front passenger kick panel did have a pocket, and there was a pocket pouch that went on the back of the front backrest.

My Slant T/S built in August 31 had pockets in all four doors. No pocket on back of front backrest. Had a rope for a blanket.

I had a standard SW Fordor, Murray body, that had two wood blocks for visors. Only the left side had a visor. There were no holes in the right block.

I also have a 31 SW Fordor that has the same green mohair interior as I think I'm seeing in the photos. My car has door pockets in all 4 doors, a single sun visor, and a block above the head liner for the passenger visor. I have spent a fair amount of time looking at the judging standards which list no green mohair trim scheme for the SW Fordor. (I am currently trying to find a source for the windlace and trim welt which is "green worsted cloth with oval chain pattern".)
I THINK that the car in the photos (and my car) has the 1930-1931 Town Sedan (155-C,D) Green Mohair interior listed in the JS. My understanding is that this body type is the pre-SW version....but I may be misreading/misunderstanding the JS. |

JayJay, you make a good point. The seat cushions in my car - can't say much about the OP's car - are clearly green. But the door coverings, for instance, are the color I'm seeing in the photos. Perhaps some fading took place over time? Or someone restored the car I have with some non-JS colors. It'd be great if someone had good photos of either or both interiors!

Some deluxe came with Bedford cord. There were a few different versions for the 160 B deluxe:
Some had no front door pockets, some no pockets at all, some with front door pockets/ no rear door pockets but with a package pocket on the front seat back, some with a cowl panel pocket. One or 2 sun visors. the sw 160 A std.had no cowl lights, different upholstery schemes, etc. . See the Ford Model A book by De Angeles, Henry, Francis for photos and info. Also, the parts books have lots of info. |
