Does the stock 1940 Ford 85 HP engine have only one temperature sender unit, Part Number 991-10884, and it's located in the pass. side cylinder head?
I am thinking that the 1940 85 HP Driver Side Cylinder head DID NOT have a temperature sender. TRUE or FALSE? What year did Ford start installing temp. sending unit in Pass. Side Head? Thanks, Jim |

For 40 the left (drivers) side head had had the single electrical terminal temperature sender. The right side head had provision for the hot water heater valve and was plugged if the hot air or no heater was installed.

On my truck (59A) ,I installed a temp sensor in each head. I ran a wire from each to a DPDT switch so I could switch back and forth and read either half of the engine. Many people with FH s have done this. |

Joel: Am I correct in assuming that (when using a single core radiator) if you only install a single pole temp. sender in only the driver side head of an 8BA your gauge will record the correct water temp. In this case, no temp. sender will be installed in the pass. side head.
Thanks, Jim |

Back in my snowmobiling days, I thought these were cool.

Joel, Good points. Both my 8RT pumps were rebuilt by Mr. Haney so I am pretty sure they are the same.
